- Description
- This volume is fully bound in leather and the edges of the text block have feint evidence of red die. The front paste-down has 2 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Adjacent to these in pencil is "SY 4-1 (H)" On the obverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. On the top right of the front free end page in ink "?? 71 1767", this is very unclear and may be a previous owners initials and date and is also written in Volume 3. There is a printers flower underneath the title which is the same as in volumes 3 and 7, (but volumes 4 and 7 are darker). The catchword is to the bottom right of every page.
