- This volume is fully bound in leather with red mottled edges to the text block. On the front paste-down there are 2 labels; top left is "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". Also in pencil top right is "KM 7 state 1". Written in ink on the front free end-page is a previous owners signature."Geo Oxenden". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The spine has 5 raised bands with gilt foliate decoration surrounded by gilt borders in between. The title piece is in the second block, in gilt on 2 lines on an ox-blood background "Tristram Shandy". Underneath in gilt is "3" with a foliate border. The board faces have a gilt border of 2 lines and the rims have impressed decoration.
