The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volume 7. A First Edition.

Description
This volume is fully bound in leather over boads with red mottling to the edges of the text block. On the front paste-down are 2 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". The top of the title page has been cut out, but it is likely that as with the rest of this 9 volume set, the previous owners signature of "John Landon" would have been there (?). On the title page is a Latin quote by Pliny. On the reverse of the title page, the errata page, is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. Laurence Sterne has signed "L. Sterne" in ink on the top of page 1. The spine has 5 raised bands with gilt lines either side and floral decoration in between. In impressed gilt capitols on an ox-blood background in the second panel is "Tristram Shandy" with "7" below on a black (green?) background. The board faces are decorated by a border of 2 impressed gilt lines, and the board edges have impressed gilt decoration. The catchword is to the bottom right of every page. IS p.1
