This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. Above these is a previous owners signature written in ink "W.S. Browning - Paris 1841", with above in pencil "£10/10". Also on this page were previously pencil notes which have been erased. On the front free end-page are various pencil notes "Rust 9 vols in 2 (1765)" and "Vols I-IV 'The Second Edition' P. by Henry Saunders in Dublin; Vols V-VIII P. by Henry Saunders in Dublin; all the above have seperate titlepages but continuous pagn and colln. The title piece is in gilt capitols in the second panel down " Tristram Shandy I" on a dark green background, surrounded by a gilt border. The catchword is to the bottom right of every page. There is a typographical error on page 31 where "Yokick" is instead of 'Yorick' and on the bottom of page 305 volume 1 is a publishers flower/device. After page 305 there are 5 pages of booksellers catalogue.
