Description
This volume is fully bound in marbled leather over boards. The front and rear paste-downs and end-pages are comprised from one piece of marbled paper (Turkish pattern). The front paste-down has 3 labels; within the centre is a large previous owners bookplate with a heraldic device with underneath "Edward Pery Buckley Esqr". On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath this and partially covering the bookplate is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in ink on the top of the title page is the previous owners signature "E.P. Buckley". On the reverse of the rear free end-page also written in pencil is "coll KM (A)4 A2 B-08 (P)i. fpiece. oddly O8 is signed". (NB; I can find no signature on O8.) On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
