Description
This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. The front paste-down has 4 labels, within the centre is a previous owners bookplate which has a second bookplate covering it, however the motto is "? Crux Anchora" above the name "JJ (TT?) Rennell Esqr", above this is a smaller and second previous owners bookplate with "Lady Rodd 1840" inside. On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath and partially covering the bookplates is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". There is some evidence to suggest that the paste-down is covering a previous page as some writing has bled through and looks like "Samuel". Written in pencil on the top right of the front free end-page is "K-3". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
