Description
This volume is fully bound in leather. The front paste-down has 2 labels on the top left; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Underneath is "2 works. The Priest Gelded at end" written in pencil. Also on this page are 2 small pieces of paper that appear to be the remains of a now lost previous owners bookplate. Written in ink on the title page is a previous owners signature "John Worrison's (?)". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. There are various notes written in pencil by Kenneth Monkman on the last blank page (please see original as smudged). There is a small wood-cut to the top of the Dedication page (A2) and a second to the top of the preface page (A4), which appears to depict Viking style ships sailing into a town.There is also a publishers device on page 143.
