Collection of English Words Not Generally Used, with their Significance and Original, in two Alphabetical Catalogues. Second Edition, Augmented.

The volume is fully bound in leather covered boards (with a new spine and end-pages). There are no original paste-downs and the new end-pages have been left loose; however pasted onto the centre of the inside front board is a previous owners booplate with the name "T.Morrell D.D. F.R.S. & S.A" with a motto in greek. Written in pencil on the top is "X95" and pasted over the top left corner is a small white label with "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall". On the title page is a previous owners signature "Cha. Alsward" (?) with "2/6" in pencil and the number "1737" is written in ink under the publication date. Written on the reverse of the title page is a further signature "T. Morell" and further notes. There are notations throughout the volume and appear to be in the hand of Morell. Written on the inside of the rear board is "The Lancastrian Vocab in Gent Mag. 1746 p. 587". The loose bookplate has the name "James Whatman". The catchword is to the bottom right corner of every page. On p.62 North country words, Shandy defined as 'wild'.
