Description
This volume is half bound in calf with marbled paper boards (Spanish on Turkish Antiqued Pattern?). Pasted onto the top left corner of the front paste-down is a label with "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", written in pencil underneath this is "Property of Trust" and "9/-" with "Andrew Tod Edinburgh 3.1.'66" written in ink in the centre of the page. Also written in pencil on the front free end-page is "£22". Stamped onto the reverse of the half-title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Turst Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monlman Collection" inside. The frontispiece is taken from the Reynolds portrait and is entitled "Laurence Sterne". The title page has an illustration of 'Maria' in the centre. There is a protective layer of tissue between these images.
