A Supplement to Mr Chambers' Cyclopedia or Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences in two volumes, volume 2.

Size: large folio. Fully bound in leather with a double gilt border decoration to front and back board with decoration to the foredge. Edges of the text block are red mottled. Head and tail bands are of red and cream alternating threads. The spine has 6 raised bands with floral gilt decoration of acorns and leaves between the bands. In the second panel is the title piece on a red morocco background with three gilt border lines "Supplement to Chambers" in the third panel down the label is missing but the impression reads "Vol 2 M - Z". Hinges weak and there is damage to headband - headband is half missing. Front paste down in the top left has a label for Shandy Hall Library. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front paste down with a family coat of arms motto : Sit Mihi Quad Nunk Est. Gul; Westbrooke, Richardson Ar. Possibly from The Royal Society of Medicine. Printers devices throughout. Front board is loose with weak hinges. Plates for both volumes bound at the back of vol 2.
