- Bound in leather, hardback with double gilt parallel lines on the front and rear board. Five false bands on the spine with floral decoration in the panels and doublegilt lines surrounding. The remains of a title piece in the second panel - no longer legible. The papers are single sheets of marbled paper. Rear board is very loosely attached and front board detaches. Gilt tooled decoration to the board edges and the foredge of text block is mottled. Frontispiece of Sterne titled "Laurence Sterne, AM. Prebendary of York &c &c." Engraved by Heath from a picture painted by Hopkins. 643 pages.
