Yoricks Emp Find Sema Reise.

Half bound in leather and paper imitation leather boards with five raised bands to the spine with gilt decoration either side of the bands. The title piece is in the second panel is missing in parts and reads 'Yorick's Reise' in gilt on black leather. In the third panel in gilt is 'I-4.Band.' The front pastedown is decorated with a comb-like red paper decoration. Two labels on the front pastedown belonging to Shandy Hall and also a previous owner's bookplate in the centre. 'Bucherei von Krosigk' in a banner to the top of the bookplate - bottom left heraldic crest of three knives of some sort. Loosely inserted into the volume is the receipt for the purchase of the book to KM from an Amsterdam bookdealer - receipt is kept in a protective sleeve. Four volumes bound as one with vol 1 (1776), vol 2 (1776), vols 3 & 4 (1777). The first two volumes by Sterne and the second two vols by 'Eugenius'. One frontispiece portrait of Laurence Sterne based on the Reynolds portrait titled 'Laurentius Sterne Praebendarius in Yorck'. Ink stamp from KM on the reverse of the title page. Several illustrations throughout the text.
