The House is open Wednesdays and Sundays from

1 May to 30 September. Visits to the house are by

tour only: at 2.45pm and 3.45pm or on other days by advance appointment

Gardens open 1 May to 30 September (11.00am to 4.30pm), every day except Saturday.

Parking and access

There is limited parking at Shandy Hall. Should no space be available, parking is available in Coxwold. The Hall has limited wheelchair access, but most of the ground floor and all of the garden is accessible by arrangement.


Coxwold, one of Britain’s loveliest villages, is 4 miles off the A19 between York & Thirsk. Near to Kilburn, the White Horse, and 8 miles from Helmsley.

Nearby attractions

Nearby attractions include Byland Abbey, Newburgh Priory, Rievaulx Abbey and Duncombe Park.


No refreshments are available at Shandy Hall, but visitors may find them in the village.

The Fauconberg Arms and the Coxwold Tearooms are both located in the village.


Well-behaved dogs on a short lead are welcome in the garden. Guide dogs may come into the house.
