This volume is fully bound in white coloured book cloth over boards, hardback with a decorated cardboard paper slip-cover. The front paste-down (western rear) has 2 labels pasted to the top left hand corner "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with "Property of the L S Trust, 1986" underneath. On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The frontispiece depicts Laurence Sterne, seated. The page numbers appear in japanese on every odd page. The book cost 3,600 Yen.
