The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volume 1. The Fifth Edition.

Volume fully bound in leather covered boards. Pasted onto the top left corner of the front paste down are 2 small white labels "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986"; on this page are also the remains of previous writing (in pencil) which has been erased. Written in pencil on the front free end page is "KM 5 TSL 109" and written in ink on the top right corner is a previous owners signature "John Fisher July 15 1832". A second signature is on the title page, also written in ink " A. Elliott". Stamped onto the reverse of the title page is the circular stamp with "The Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" and inside "The Kenneth Monkman Collection". The reverse of the rear free end-page has some annotation in ink which are likely book-sellers comments.
