The Yorkshire Archaeological Journal.Volume XXI

This volume is half bound in ox-blood coloured leather with dark red book cloth covered boards. There are 2 labels pasted onto the front paste-down; to the top left is "From the Collection of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", and to the bottom right is a small blue label with "W.H. Smith & Son. Booksellers and Stationers, 13 Coney Street, York". Written in pencil on 4 lines on the rear paste-down is "109. North-country miserichords. 110 " ". 441-3 Appleton Nunnery. 306 Yorks roads in 1537". Stamped on the reverse of the half-title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Shandy Hall" around the edge and "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. This is a hollow-back hard-back volume. Printed in impressed gilt capitols to the head of the spine is "Yorkshire Archaeological Journal XXI". The head and tail bands are comprised of alternating red and cream threads.
