This volume is quarter bound (spine and part of boards) in brown leather with pale brown paper covered boards, the slip case is covered in dark brown book cloth. The front and rear paste-down's and free end-pages are comprised of single sheets of pale grey paper. Pasted onto the top left corner of the front paste-down is a label with "From the Collection of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall". To the rear of the volume are 4 pages of advertisments. On the last page are the printers details. Articles in this volume are: 1) 'Hints and Documents' 1; A Bibliography for Tristram Shandy, by Hawley, 2) The Beggar in A Sentimental Journey, by Berthous, 3) Swift as Ogre, Richardson as Dolt; Rescuing Sterne from the Eighteenth Century by New, 4) Laurence Sterne's Display of Heraldry, by O'Shea, 5) Tristram's Marblings and Marblers, by Patterson, 6) Sterne's Farewell to Politics, by Monkman, 7) The Publication of the Spurious Volumes of Tristram Shandy, by Bandry, 8) Henry William Bunbury, Illustrator of Tristram Shandy by de Voogd (between pages 142=143 is a triple pull-out page of colour plates), 9) Ignation Sancho's Letters by Descargues (between pages 152=153 is a large pull-out letter) 9) A Letter by (and a Poem to?) Lydia, and a Letter by Elizabeth, edited, with notes, by Monkman. Followed by Notes, Queries and Reviews (pasted onto page 189 is a 4 double-page folded booklet, held together with a staple).
