The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volume 2. The Third Edition.

This volume is fully bound in leather with red mottled edges to the text block. On the front paste-down there are 2 labels; top left is "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". Above these and centre written in ink is a previous owners signature "Mr. Thomas". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The spine has 5 raised bands, the title piece has moved but has "Tristram Shandy" in capitols on 2 lines surrounded by a border of 2 lines. Underneath in impressed gilt is "2". The board rims have the remains of impressed decoration.
