A Sentimental Journey - Scrapbook

Scrapbook bound in silk patterned blue cloth boards. Inside is a collection of newspaper articles and photographs of Sterneana including an edition of A Sentimental Journey published in the series 'The Illustrated Literature of All Nations' which includes illustrations along with a short memoir of Sterne. Also included are pen and ink coloured drawings of Coxwold dated 1892 and signed W.S. The front pastedown has a print of Uncle Toby and the Widow Wadman ? (engraving by Lumb Stocks - Monkman). The fron flyleaf is an image of Sterne and the Grisette by Newton is dettached. Page 1 (with photograph of Shandy Hall) has owner's signature William Scruton 1888. On the rear pastedown is the papercover to 'The Illustrated Literature of All Nations', illustrated with 32 engraving published by John Chapman and Co. 5 Shoe Lane, Fleet Street. A Sentimental Journey in gilt to the spine. Includes 'Note : The following articles and the illustrations (4) appeared in The Yorkshire Weekly Post April and May 1888. W.S.'
