This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. The front paste-down has 2 labels added to the top left hand corner "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and adjacent "Property of the LS Trust, 1986". Underneath and partially obscured is a previous owners signature in ink "Martha Street's book" the ink of which has off set onto the adjacent page. On the reverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. On the front free end-page are 2 lines of faded writing in pencil "Evans 29565 ...2 plates AAJ/ NYP (?) Lilly Library copy 4 plates". On the first blank page is a second owners signature (large) and on 4 lines "William V Street Norfolk Virginia" in a smaller hand below "August 30th 1806" underlined with a flourish. This has all off set on the adjacent page as well as bleeding through the page onto the next one. The end paste-down has "Norfolk Va 1921" in pencil on 2 lines top right and top left also in pencil is "46". Pornographic edition of A Sentimental Journey.
