This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. On the front paste-down there are 2 labels; top left "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". Above these is a previous owners signature written in ink "W.S. Browning - Paris 1841". On the front free end-page in pencil "2 vols". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The spine has 5 raised bands. The title piece is in gilt capitols in the second panel down " Tristram Shandy 2" on a dark green background, surrounded by a gilt border. The catchword is to the bottom right of every page. The first letter of each volume is surrounded with a decorated border.
