This volume is half bound in marbled leather and marbled paper central panels, Turkish Antiqued pattern, over boards. The edges of the text block have been stained yellow. The front and rear paste-downs and end-pages are comprised from one piece of marbled paper which is uniform to the panels used on the faces. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". On the reverse of the front free end-page is a previous owners bookplate which depicts a plough wielding tiger above "W.A. Locan", also in pencil is "Coll KM" and printed bottom left is "Bound by Riviere & Son". On the adjacent page is a further bookplate depicting heraldic arms above "Sempre-Avanti" inside a scroll and above "Gelardi". On the reverse of the rear free end-page written in pencil is "442". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
