This volume is half bound in leather over boards with marbled paper and marbled edges to the text block (possibly Turkish on Stormont pattern?). The front paste-down has 3 labels added; to the top left hand corner "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath "Property of the LS Trust, 1986". Within the centre is an unusual yellow bookplate, oval in shape with a raised white bird whose wings fold from the top down, between the wings is " Ex Libris Max Salomon" and "Serviunt Non Saeviunt" in raised white capitols. Within the centre of these words is a white oval and written in red ink is "1518 ME" on 2 lines. Underneath in pencil is "8/6" and "2 vols in 1". Writing in pencil on the top right of the front free end-page and title page has been erased. On the rear paste-down written in pencil top right is "54". On the reverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. On the reverse of the last page of volume 2 (page 129) written in ink is a list of account figures. Top left hand of front paste down binder's stamp: WARD, BINDER, BELFAST.
