Within the centre of these words is a white oval and written in red ink is "1518 ME" on 2 lines. Underneath in pencil is "8/6" and "2 vols in 1". Writing in pencil on the top right of the front free end-page and title page has been erased. On the rear paste-down written in pencil top right is "54". On the reverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it.
