This volume is fully bound in speckled leather over boards with red mottling to the text block edges. The front paste-down has 4 labels; within the centre is a large previous owners bookplate with underneath an armorial device the name "George Nelson, Esq.r" Pasted over the bottom of this bookplate is a second previous owners bookplate with the name "G.A.F.H. Bridgeman" underneath the Lion image. Pasted over the first bookplate and on the top left corner are 2 small white labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath "Property of the LS Trust, 1986". Also, written in pencil on the top is "2nd ed. Written in pencil on the front free end-page is "Earliest Bookplate is of George Nelson Esq". On the reverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
