This volume is bound in marbled boards, Italian over Spanish Moir pattern, with a leather spine and corners. The paste-downs and end pages are also comprised of marbled pages, and the edges of the text block are marbled, all the same pattern. The front paste-down has 2 labels on the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Pasted onto the top left of the reverse of the front free end page is small typed label "Bound by J. Kelly, 15, Gower Place". With underneath and written in pencil "Bronte Contains the 1857 Tauchnitz edition of 'The Professor". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The volume has a thin brown material bookmark, slightly worn, attached to the headband.
