This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left hand side are"From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in ink on the top right of the title page is a previous owners signature "D; Gordon". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The catchword is to the bottom right of every page. There are various publishers flowers/devices throughout the text block. The spine has 5 raised bands with gilt lines either side. The board rims have impressed gilt decoration.
