A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy. With a Memoire of the Author and Illustrated with Numerous Engravings.

This volume is bound in tooled dark red buckram boards with gilt edges to the text block. The front paste-down has 3 labels; within the centre is a previous owners bookplate with "Victor de Pontigny". On the top left corner; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in pencil above is "BM says (1857)". Also written in pencil and on the front free end-page is "CH/-" and "c.1851 £3.3.0". On the rear of the front free end page, aslo written in pencil is "publ' 1857. BM says (1857)" On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. Pasted onto the bottom of the rear paste-down is a small label with "Bound By Burn, 37 & 38 Kirby Street"
