The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in pencil on this page is "first edition" and "uncut; very scarce thus. v" and "Pick; & Chatto" and "paper flaw on p29". Written in ink on the top right of the front free end page is "Carlos Cooper" On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
