This volume is bound in marbled boards (Shell pattern?) with a leather spine and corners. The front paste-down has 2 labels "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". There are also various notes written in pencil on this page "C.C, D.2, S.1" and "Scarce. A most amusing book" and "James Douglas (1753=1819), soldierand divine and antiquary. Written much in the manner of Sterne DNB" please see original as some words are smudged. Written in ink on the title page is a previous owners signature "Alex.r Macleod". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. On page 286 is a list of other Books printed for J. Debrett. This page has ink scribbles around the margins.
