This volume is bound in red buckram. There are 2 labels on the front paste-down; On the top left are "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". The title page has a publishers device in the centre. On the reverse of the title page is a circular black stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" in the centre. On the bottom of page 436 is "Billing and Sons, Ltd, Printers, Guildford". This volume contains the preface to both the second and third editions; as well as "Opinions of the Press on The Life of Laurence Sterne". The prefaces are misbound.
