This volume is bound in green material covered boards, the top edge of the text block is gilded. The front paste-down has printed onto it the Starling coat-of arms with "Ex Libris" printed underneath and written in black ink underneath this is "Austin Dobson....." the rest is difficult to read. Also on this page and paritally covering the coat of arms are 3 labels; On the top left is a long blue label with "From Austin Dobson's Library" underneath are "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in pencil across the top is "6 vols Complete. Presentation copy from the Editor - £1/10/-". In black ink with crossings out and initials G.S. Written in pencil on the front free end-page is "50354", "RB/xx", "5/82" and "6 vols £32.00" and "BL has this edition and says 1894". On the reverse of the title page is a circular black stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" in the centre. Written in pencil on the rear paste-down is "6v", "6vD/ 83" and "00/to".
