The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy Gentleman By Laurence Sterne. With an Introduction by Henry Morley.

This volume is bound in blue buckram, with a tooled and decorated front board. The paste-downs and end-pages are comprised from different paper than the rest of the text block and the front paste-down and end page have a printed history of "Morley's Universal Library" whilst the rear ones list "Routledge's Standard Library" publications. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top are "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Printed on the page facing the title page is "Ballantyne Press, Ballantyne, Hanson and Co, Edinburgh. Chandos Street, London". Above this is a previous owners signature written in pencil "A. Campbell". On the reverse of the title page is a circular black stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" in the centre.
