This volume is bound in red buckram boards. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Pasted onto the front free end-page is a large and folded newspaper article; "Our Book Shelf 'A Queer Dog' The English Rabelais and His Astonishing Friends" by William Purvis. Printed onto the back of the half title page is brief information on Sterne and previous editions. On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. Written in pencil on the rear free end-page are notes related to the text. At the rear of the volume is a list of dates, an index of persons and words and also information about the Unit Library.
