This volume is bound in marbled boards, Bouquet pattern, with a ox-blood coloured leather spine and corners and red mottled edges to the text block. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in pencil, in KM's hand adjacent and underneath are "see Book Collector Winter '66" and "Both the black page + the marbled one are omitted, v pp 25 and 173 (where the text is slightly altered accordingly). On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside.
