This volume is fully bound in ox-blood coloured buckram with the top edge of the text block stained gilt. The front paste-down has 2 labels; On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Written in pencil is "£35.00 Vol (?) No 247" (limitation number?). Printed onto the title page is the Golden Cockeral Press device. On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. Written in pencil on the rear paste-down is "P/3". Impressed into the spine in gilt capitols is "Tristram Shandy. Sterne. Volume I"
