The Works of Laurence Sterne: Containing The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gent. A Sentimental Journey through France and Italy. Sermons, Letters etc. With A Life of the Author, Written by Himself.

This volume is fully bound in dark brown coloured book cloth over boards. The paste-downs and free end-pages are comprised of single sheets of lemon coloured paper. The front paste-down has 1 label on the top "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall". Written in ink on the top right of the front free end-page is "325 le", this is repeated on the top of the title page. Written in pencil to the top right of the reverse of the Frontispiece is "1 15". Stamped on the bottom of the decorated title page and the actual title page is a stamp with a coat-of-arms with "Bibliothek. DRA DRA. Pohlner Ehlen". On the reverse of the title page is printer information as well as a circular black stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" in the centre. Frontispiece is a copper-plate engraving entitled "Laurence Sterne" and has a protective tissue layer over the top. The cut on the decorated title page appears to be of 'Poor Maria'.
