Hardback. This volume is fully covered in bookcloth (in 'watered' lines of cream, pale pink, pink and pale brown in a 'wave' effect). Pasted onto the top left corner of the front paste-down is a small paper label with "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall". Stamped onto the bottom of the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with inside "The Kenneth Monkman Collection". In the centre of the rear paste-down is a small red paper circle (similar to a wax seal) which is partially pasted down. The catch-word is to the bottom right of every page. The title piece is on a blue backing with "A Sentimental Journey &c." in impressed gilt letters.
