The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volumes III. First Edition.

This volume is bound in marbled paper covered boards (Wide Combed Pattern) with a leather spine. Written in pencil on the front paste-down ar notes by KM "KM variant III errors on pp 160, 171, 187 all corrected". Stamped onto the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The frontispiece is a full page illustration depicting 'The Buttoning of the Breeches', to the top left is "Vol. 4 page 122..", bottom left is "W. Hogarth inv.t", centre "Vol.2. page 128" and right "S. Ravenet Sculpt." This is a 'Second State' illustration as the hat and clock are present. There are clear watermarks on the end pages.
