The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volume IV.

This volume is bound in the original blue paper covers over boards with the remains of a brown paper covered spine (see detached piece). Written in ink on the top of the front cover is "H". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. Written in pencil on the rear paste-down are notes relating to this volume by KM "Collates as in Cross but plate is bound correctly as in Ashley copy; not as in Rothschild copy" and "This is a State 1" and other notes relating to variances within the text (see original).
