The Sermons of Mr. Yorick. Volume 1.

This volume is fully bound in mottled leather over boards, and the edges of the text block have red mottling. The front paste-down has 2 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986 "In pencil are the following notes; "15/" (15 shilligngs), "KM C SY1-1b" above "Sig B state x" as well a "No 'Vol 1' on sig B or D but C is signed." On the obverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. The frontispiece is opposite the title page and is a full page cut of Laurence Sterne within a roundell with "Laurence Sterne A.M. Prebendary of York etc" in capitols on 2 lines within a cartouche. To the top right corner is "Frontispiece, Vol I.", bottom left is "Reynolds pinx.t" and bottom right "Ravenet sculp."
