The Sermons of Mr. Yorick. Volume 2.

This volume is fully bound in leather over boards, and the edges of the text block have red mottling. The front paste-down has 3 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Within the centre of the page is a large bookplate "Nath'l Cholmley Esq'r" and underneath the shield device on this bookplate is "Cassis Tutissima Virtus" all in captiols within a scroll.The title page has a device underneath the title and on the obverse of this page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. The frontispiece is opposite the title page and is a full page cut of Laurence Sterne within a roundell with "Laurence Sterne A.M. Prebendary of York etc" in capitols on 2 lines within a cartouche. To the top right corner is "Frontispiece, Vol I.", bottom left is "Reynolds pinx.t" and bottom right "Ravenet sculp.".
