Shandy Hall is near the church in the village of Coxwold, approximately 19 miles north of York, midway between the market towns of Thirsk, Easingwold, and Helmsley.
From A19, south of Thirsk, turn east (signposted to Coxwold). Shandy Hall is the first house on the left after the Coxwold village entry sign.

If entering Coxwold from the east, Shandy Hall is the last house on the right, on the opposite side to the church.

There is a small car visitor park for around six cars. If the car park is full there is parking in the village or on the road outside.

The car park is gravelled. If you are a wheelchair user or have other disability where car parking is of concern, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to reserve a space.

There is a further gravelled path towards the shop, and small step up into the shop.

There is a flight of steps up to the gallery.

There are two steps into the room below the gallery, which is sometimes used as a reception room for refreshments at the opening of events and exhibitions.

There are steps down to the wild garden.

There are uneven paths throughout the grounds.

There are steps to the toilet from the garden, but it is accessible without steps from car park. There is a small step at the entrance.

The nearest accessible WC facility is in the Village Hall, located approximately 0.5 miles from the museum.

Assistance dogs are welcome in the grounds and house.

The normal museum tours are on the ground floor of Shandy Hall. There are steps into some of the rooms, but wheelchairs can be positioned at the doors so as to allow views into the rooms. Turning space is limited.

We want everyone to enjoy Shandy Hall as much as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to make suitable arrangements.
